These pointsettia flowers are lovely for the holidays. You can make them in any other color too for the rest of the year. Be sure to check out my YouTube Tutorial Video on how to make this in the next section!

Materials:
50 yards worsted weight yarn - each of red and green. Size G (4mm or 4.25mm) crochet hook. Scissors. Yarn needle. Yellow beads. Sewing thread. Sewing needle.

Instructions:
Petal #1 -
With red yarn, start with a 12" tail. Make a Slipknot. CH 12. Skip first CH. Using front loops only, SLST in remaining 11 chains. CH 1, turn work.
Side #1: Skip CH. Using back loops only for all stitches on Side #1, SLST in next stitch. SC in next. HDC in next. 1 DC in each of the next 5 stitches. HDC in next stitch. SC in next. SLST in final stitch. SLST in ridge bump. Pivot and proceed to Side #2.
Side #2 of petal: SLST in next stitch. SC in next. HDC in next. 1 DC in each of the next 5 stitches. HDC in next stitch. SC in next. SLST in final stitch. Do not cut yarn. Proceed onto next petal.
Petals #2 - 10 -
Using same yarn, repeat Petal #1's instructions (e.g. start with a CH 12). Cut an 18" tail after completing Petal #10.

Leaves:
With green yarn, use Petal #1's instructions, and make 3 connected petals. Cut an 18" tail after completing. Note: If you want to make the leaves slightly larger than the flower petals, start off with a CH 14 instead of CH 12. Then just increase the DCs in the middle from 5 DC to 7 DC.

Assembly:
Take connected red petals and twist to form a flower with 5 petals on top and 5 petals on the bottom. Using the longer tail end, sew the layers securely in the center. Add yellow beads at the center with sewing thread. Sew flower to leaves. Weave in all ends.

Headband: Tie and knot the flower/leaves to a pre-purchased headband.
Lariat necklace: Make one leaf petal using green yarn (starting with a CH 12). Then CH 200. CH 12 more. Use the last 12 chains to make another leaf petal. Cut & weave in all ends. Tie and knot the flower/leaves onto the lariat.
