You won't believe how simple it is to make this. If you can only make square and rectangle things like blankets - and have been afraid to try anything with a shape to it - fear not! This is made flat (like a square / rectangle) and then sewn in two small sections to form the armholes. One size fits most - but it is easy to customize if you want to make it smaller or larger.

Materials:
1000 yards worsted weight yarn. Sample mesh sweater cardigan used I Love This Yarn (Hobby Lobby) - [4] weight (Worsted) - 252 yds (230 m) each. Sample color: Coraline. 4 skeins needed.
Size H - 5 mm crochet hook
Yarn needle
Scissors
Button(s) or bow(s) as optional closure
 
Finished Measurements:
38"/96.5 cm width by 40"/101.5 cm height
 
Gauge:
This pattern is customizable from both a length and width perspective.
16 stitches = 4"/ 10 cm and 7 rows = 4"/ 10 cm
 
Instructions:
Slipknot. CH an odd # of stitches. Sample used a semi-loose starting CH of 151.
Row 1: 1 DC in 5th CH from hook *CH 1. SK 1 CH and do 1 DC in next CH* RPT between * * across row.
Row 2: [Alternate to a CH-3 start: Turn work. SC in same space. CH 1]. *CH 1. SK 1 CH, 1 DC in next DC* RPT between * * across row. Easy way to remember: CH over CH; DC over DC. Measure your work to ensure it is of desired width. Sample is 38"/96.5 cm across.
Rows 3+: RPT Row 2 until desired height. Sample has a total of 70 rows, with a total height of 40"/ 101.5 cm.
Fold rectangle in half. Measure 7-8"/ 17-20 cm down from the fold for the armhole area along one side. Mark, pin, then sew the remainder of the side closed. Repeat for the other side. Cut and weave in all ends. Add a button, bow, or other closure if desired in the front.
