This Simple Origami Rose flower is a nice crochet project for beginner to advanced crocheters. It is made with double crochet stitches then rolled into shape.
Because it’s quick and easy, you only need small amounts of yarn for this project. I’m using Red Heart Super Saver yarn. It’s a great way to use up scraps of yarn from other projects!
First you crochet a circle. Then you fold it in a simple way to form a rose flower. It really is that simple!

Supplies
Supplies for the roses.
- Less than 50 yards of worsted weight yarn.
I like Red Heart Super Saver for this project. The yarn comes in beautiful colors, plus it has just the right stiffness to keep the shape of the flowers. This is also a wonderful way to use up the small amounts of scrap yarn you have left over from your previous blanket projects.
- G size crochet hook – 4 mm or 4.25 mm.
Depending upon the manufacturer of your hook, a US size G crochet hook runs anywhere from a 4 mm to 4.25 mm. Feel free to use another size as well. An H 5 mm hook will just make your flower a bit larger. An F 3.75 mm hook will make your flower a bit smaller.
- Yarn Needle. Scissors.
You’ll need both a yarn needle and scissors to fasten off and weave in ends.
- Floral stem.
When I make wreaths with flowers on them, I oftentimes cut the flower off and have a perfectly good stem left over. Save those stems and leaves! You can just pop your crochet flower onto these stems.
If you don’t have any stems left over, the local dollar store has plenty of inexpensive floral bunches. The stems from these are really nice! - Hot glue.
I like to add a bit of hot glue to the bottom of the rose to keep it secured to the stem. You don’t really need to do this, but it’s definitely an option.
