Donna Wolfe, creator of Naztazia, smiling and wearing a handmade crochet top. She specializes in crochet, knitting, sewing, and fiber arts tutorials.
Hi, I’m Donna Wolfe! Since 2006, I have been the face and hands behind Naztazia. This is my official About page where you can learn about my ‘Digital Tactility’ philosophy, my family team (including Sarah and Shawn!), and my love for all things fiber arts.

The Logic Behind the Stitches

My journey has always been a parallel course of technology and tradition. At age five, I was exploring text-based spreadsheets on a TRS-80 microcomputer (lovingly known by us early adopters as the “Trash-80”) while simultaneously learning the rhythm of a crochet hook. To me, these weren’t two different worlds—they were two different ways of solving puzzles. This “radial thinking” is the DNA of Naztazia®: I don’t just teach you how to make a stitch; I engineer the pattern so it is logical, accessible, and fun to learn.

Technical Heritage & Innovation

My professional life is built on a foundation of both academic theory and “in-the-trenches” experience.

1991–1995: While pursuing my Bachelor’s in Education at Wilkes University, I spent my nights navigating the text-based internet on VAX systems using Lynx, Gopher, and IRC.

The ISP Era: I served as the first technical support employee at EPIX, the ISP division of Commonwealth Telephone Enterprises. (CTE was later acquired by Frontier, which as of January 2026, is now part of the Verizon network). I managed the development of high-speed DSL and ISDN infrastructure and co-hosted “The Net Sho,” a weekly regional PBS affiliate TV show.

2008: After years in Product Management and R&D, I earned my Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology. This degree is the “secret sauce” of Naztazia®—it’s the reason my tutorials are engineered for maximum learning and logic.

The Accidental YouTube Journey

In 2006, I transitioned to full-time motherhood and launched D. Wolfe Consulting, Inc. I made a bet that I could get 100 views in a week with a few crochet videos—mostly as memory aids for myself. Not only did I exceed that goal, but I found that my “Teacher” brain and “Tech” brain had found their perfect home. Today, that small experiment has grown into a global community of over 6.4 million followers:

Leadership & Tradition

Today, I manage a dual-track career as both a creator and an industrial leader. You can find my full professional history on LinkedIn.

  • Industrial CEO: I am the CEO of Lighting Services, Inc., specializing in emergency vehicle equipment and installation for fire, police, and EMS personnel.
  • Ukrainian Heritage: I am deeply proud of my Ukrainian roots and co-author books on Pysanky (Ukrainian egg art) with my good friend, Lorrie Popow, and my daughter, Sarah.
  • The Next Generation: Both of my children continue the family tradition of combining technical curiosity with creative skill:
    • Sarah: Operates Reviews by Sarah, focusing on lifestyle, crafts, and technology.
    • Shawn (WX3WLF): An Extra-Class Ham Radio operator who manages WX3WLF.com, focusing on weather, preparedness, and nature.

Merging Tradition with Technology: The Naztazia Standard

At Naztazia®, I believe in Instructional Transparency. In my modern workflow, I collaborate with Gemini AI as a high-powered technical partner to handle the “heavy lifting,” such as complex math for pattern grading and organizing decades of instructional data.

However, the soul of the work remains handmade. I still reach for pencil and graph paper to map out intricate stitches. I still spend afternoons applying polymer clay to my crochet hooks to ensure they are perfect for filming. Most importantly, I still believe in counting and recounting stitches manually to ensure every pattern is accurate. This fusion of analytical power and tactile dedication ensures every tutorial is Genuinely Real.
