How to Crochet the Brick Stitch
This crochet brick stitch is a nice colorful textured pattern that consists of single crochet stitches and elongated stitches. It works great for a blanket, hat, scarf, shawl, bag, and more.
About Crochet Brick Stitch
Colorful textured stitches look great in crochet. This brick stitch is easy to make, plus it works up quickly. In my sample, the blue yarn serves as the “mortar” while the colorful pastels serve as the “bricks.”
The primary stitch that makes up this pattern is single crochet. The stitch that creates the mortar lines in the bricks is an elongated single crochet. Together they create an easy-to-remember sequence that creates a colorful blanket, scarf, hat, bag, and more.
Yarn and Hook
For my sample I’m using worsted weight 100% acrylic yarn and a size H 5 mm crochet hook. Feel free to use other weights and fiber contents along with a corresponding hook.
The medium blue color yarn serves as the mortar in my sample. I then used a light pink, light peach, light yellow and light green to serve as the brick layers. With mine, I carried my blue yarn along the sides. While I changed colors for each layer of bricks, feel free to keep the same color for all the layers. You can easily carry that yarn along the sides as well.
As always there is a written pattern below as well as a step-by-step tutorial video to go along with it. Enjoy!
