How to Crochet the Brioche Stitch Pattern in the Basic and Two Color Design

The crochet brioche stitch pattern is similar to the knitted version. Double slip stitches create the colorful 3D effect.

About This Stitch Pattern

The crochet brioche stitch produces a lovely design in crocheting. The horizontal chain-like stitches are very similar to knitted stockinette. And the two color design is very similar to knitted brioche in appearances.

Aside from a chain stitch, there is really only one stitch used in this pattern. It’s called the double slip stitch (DSLST). The double slip stitch is made by making a yarn over, inserting the hook into the designated stitch, then making another yarn over and pulling through the stitch and the remaining two loops on the crochet hook.

For my sample I’m using a variety of yarn. In the main opening photo, I’m using 100% acrylic super bulky weight yarn with a 10 mm crochet hook. I’m using the thicker yarn primarily so the stitch pattern is easy to see. Throughout the tutorial video, I’m using a worsted weight cotton and acrylic blend with a 6.5 mm crochet hook. Feel free to experiment with different sizes of hooks and yarn types.

As always, feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I hope you enjoy this pattern! Donna Wolfe from Naztazia.
