How to Crochet a Christmas Stocking
The Crochet Christmas Stocking is a lovely handmade item and a holiday tradition. Plus, it is easy to make!
About this Pattern
Crochet Christmas Stockings are adorable, plus this one is easy to make. It’s a good size too and would look very nice on a fireplace mantel. It is about 16 inches in height, while the top boot section of the stocking measures about 6.5 inches in width when flat.
I chose half double crochet stitches to form the entire stocking. Single crochet stitches take forever to make, while double crochet stitches create a fabric with some holes. Half double crochet is right in the middle. The stitch doesn’t take forever to make, plus there are minimal spaces in between the stitches.
For my sample I’m using 100% acrylic yarn in worsted weight. Feel free to use any other material like cotton, wool, bamboo, and more. I’m using an H 5 mm size crochet hook with mine, as it creates just the right size of stitches. You can always use a thinner or thicker yarn and its corresponding hook size to alter the size of the stocking.
As always I have a step-by-step tutorial video to help you out with this pattern. I hope you enjoy this pattern! Donna Wolfe from Naztazia.
