How to Crochet Easy Spring Flower

Here’s an easy spring flower to crochet. It has 6 puff flower petals that give it a 3D effect. It’s a simple and fast crochet pattern to make. You can use these flowers on a hat, scarf, shawl, bag, and especially in your hair.

Supplies Used

For this garden of flowers crochet pattern, I’m using Lion Brand Mandala yarn, which is a DK weight yarn (a number 3 on the label). The color is listed as Gnome. It’s a bit thinner than traditional worsted or regular weight yarn. But feel free to use worsted weight yarn too with this project!

The nice thing about Mandala yarn is it contains so many colors in one cake or skein. Because of this, you can cut the yarn to separate the colors. Each flower takes less than 7 yards to make, so you can make many flowers from just one Mandala.

I’m also using a size G hook, which is a 4 mm or 4.25 mm depending upon the manufacturer. It helps to have scissors and a yarn needle handy too.

Stitches Used

For this crochet flower, you will need to know how to crochet a chain (CH), as well as make a ring with a slip stitch (SLST). Other stitches include the half double crochet (HDC) and the 5 treble crochet bobble stitch. (5-TR BOBBLE). While that sounds like a big scary stitch, it’s really quite simple to do, especially if you follow along with the tutorial video. I hope you enjoy!
