How to Crochet Curls using Foundation Crochet Method
Crochet foundation curls are quick and easy to make using foundation crochet in this tutorial by Naztazia. These crochet curls are made using the technique of foundation crochet, where a chain is made and then the double crochet stitches are made into that chain. Another chain is made, and more double crochet stitches are made into the new chain and so forth. With this method, the curl can be made to any length without guessing how many starting chains are needed upfront.
About this Pattern
Crochet foundation curls are made from the bottom and worked upwards. A starting chain is not necessary and the curls can be made to any length without guessing how long the starting chain needs to be.
What does that mean? Let’s say we start out with 20 chains. And we make 3 double crochet stitches in each chain, thinking this will be a good-sized curl. After doing 60 stitches, we realize the curl is too small and needs to be longer. Now we have to rip out 60 stitches, plus 20 chains and start all over again.
However, with this foundation crochet method, we make 1 chain, and 3 double crochet stitches. Then another chain and 3 double crochet stitches. We build the curl from the bottom up until we get to the length we want it to be at. No ripping out of stitches! No guessing how many starting chains are needed!
I have a full tutorial showing how to crochet curls using the foundation crochet method. I also have a tutorial on foundation crochet as well.
