How to Crochet the Layered Shell Stitch Pattern
The Crochet Layered Shell Stitch pattern creates a nice 3D look to your work. This one looks great for a blanket as well as with clothing.
About This Pattern
Crochet shell stitches are probably one of my favorite type of stitch patterns. I think scalloped edging always has a nice appealing look to it.
This stitch pattern looks complicated, but it’s pretty easy as long as you know your basic crochet stitches such as a CH chain, SC single crochet, DC double crochet, and TR treble crochet. The pattern consists of primarily making 2 rows of double crochet stitches, followed by a row of shell stitches. The shell stitches will be made in the front loops, while the subsequent double crochet row will be made in the back loops. This is what pushes the shell stitches outward to create the layered look.
You can use this technique for many other designs as well. Working part of the stitch pattern in the front loops while other parts are worked in the back loops creates the nice layered effect. As always I have a step-by-step tutorial video to help you with this stitch pattern. I hope you enjoy this! Donna Wolfe from Naztazia
