How to Crochet the T Stitch
The Crochet T Stitch works up fast and easy and looks great in a blanket. Front post stitches create the unique look.
About this Pattern
This T Stitch is an interesting crochet pattern. You can see the letter T shapes that form in the final work. Elongated front post stitches along with traditional double crochet stitches form the pattern. There are elements of the crochet basket weave stitch in it as well.
You can use this stitch pattern in a blanket especially. It would also look good in a handbag as well as for a scarf pattern.
The first two rows begin with double crochet stitches. My sample changes colors every two rows. The third row begins the elongated front post double treble stitches. While this sounds complicated, basically you will wrap the yarn around your hook 3 times, then yarn over and take off 2 loops at a time until you are left with 1 loop on your hook. The stitch is easy once you do it a couple of times.
Fourth row consists of double crochet stitches while the fifth row repeats the the elongated stitch row, except the stitches are staggered. If you place pins along the bottom edge of your work, you’ll find it really helps with counting.
Yarn and Supplies
For this pattern I’m using Red Heart Super Saver with a size G 4 mm crochet hook. You can also use an H 5 mm hook as well. For some reason I’ve been crocheting even looser lately, so the G 4 mm hook helps me tighten the stitches up a bit.
This is one of those stitches that can be used with any size yarn and its corresponding hook. Feel free to experiment with very lightweight yarn as well as the bulky and chunky weight yarns.
