How to Crochet the Textured Wave Stitch
This crochet textured wave stitch is easy to make and works up fast for a blanket or scarf. Front post stitches create the unique look!
Wave Stitches and Ripple Stitches
I’m pretty sure everyone loves classic ripple stitches and wave stitches. Traditionally, stitch patterns like this require counting and skipping and getting the peaks and valleys to work out just right. One wrong move and everything gets off – especially the ends and sides!
This wave stitch ripple pattern is very simple to make. Everything is worked in groups of 5 stitches. Rows are either primarily single crochet or double crochet. And you change colors every three rows. If you need some help with changing colors, I have a tutorial on changing yarn colors here.
Post stitches form the wave pattern. These are either front post double crochet stitches or front post treble crochet stitches. Once you figure out where these go, in groups of five, it becomes a quick and easy pattern for a blanket, scarf, shawl, bag, and more.
Sample Yarn and Hook Plus More
For my sample I’m using leftover worsted weight yarn and a size G 4 mm crochet hook. You can make this stitch pattern with any size yarn and its corresponding or suggested crochet hook. I’ve done this stitch pattern in the past with everything from fine sock yarn to super bulky weight yarn.
