How to Crochet a V-Neck Collar for Tops and T-Shirts
This crochet v-neck collar dresses up your plain tops and t-shirts. It is made with a granny square and extended granny stitch pattern.
About Crochet V-Neck Collar
I love tops, especially t-shirts. And I have a lot of solid, one-color, plain V-neck tops and t-shirts. I’m always looking for ways to dress them up. And a little fanciness around the neckline looks great in photos. With this in mind, I designed an easy collar you can crochet for just about any V-neck shirt you have.
The pattern is pretty easy if you crochet. First we’re going to make a two-round granny square. Then we’re going to do the granny stitch on one side of it to extend it up to the shoulders. And repeat for the other side. You’ll clip on the collar to the shirt’s neckline and sew it. That’s it! You can whip one up in 2 hours.
I’m using Yarn Art Begonia cotton crochet yarn. I generally suggest a fine or sport weight yarn, which is a number 2 on the label. This gives the collar a classy look. You can also use crochet thread size 3 for your collar. I’m using a small size C 2.75 mm crochet hook. Feel free to adjust this up to a D or E if that’s more comfortable for you. You can probably see in the video a little glimpse of me wearing my up-close reading glasses for this project!
As always I have a step-by-step tutorial video for this project. Enjoy! Donna Wolfe from Naztazia.
