How to Crochet an Easy Triangle Scarf and Shawl
This triangle scarf is easy and fast to make as well as drapes nicely. The delicate edging adds a bit of elegance. You can also use it as a shawl.
How It’s Made
This scarf is made starting at the bottom point and worked upwards. The nice thing about this is you can then customize the final width of the scarf (or shawl). Mine is 60″ wide, but feel free to stop sooner than 51 rows to make a smaller one. Or keep going beyond my 51 rows to make a much wider scarf.
The stitch pattern is pretty simple. There is a “first loop.” Then there is a “middle section.” And finally the “last loop.” Once you memorize these 3 easy sections, you can practically crochet this shawl in your sleep.
Importantly, most of the scarf is made with chains and single crochet stitches. I do throw in a double crochet at the end of every row, just for fun. The edging consists of chains, slip stitches, and single crochet stitches. Actually the edging consists of little picots that form a motif resembling a 3-leaf clover.

Materials Used
I used a yarn I found at Joann made by K+C | Knit Crochet. Smooth is the name of the yarn, while Green Lt. is its color. It’s a DK weight (a number 3) yarn. And it is super smooth and drapes beautifully.
The label lists that it is a 100% premium micro acrylic. It sure does not feel like traditional “acrylic” yarn, so the “micro” part must do something to it in the manufacturing process! If I was to take a guess without looking at the label, I’d almost say it was either made of bamboo or had a good percentage of bamboo content.
