About Shell Stitch Crochet
I’m a big fan of shell stitches for crochet. Always have been, too. This is one of my favorite stitch patterns. I like this one because of the shape of each shell. It’s not too big, not too small. Plus I like how the subsequent shells shift over a bit from the previous ones.
This one is a four-row repeat pattern. The ends change a bit, but for the most part, there are double crochet stitches that form the shells. And the in-between rows consist of V stitches (double crochet, chain 2, double crochet) and single crochet stitches. This one works up fast and easy. Intermediate and experienced crocheters will have no problem with this pattern. I think a beginner who is pretty good at counting should do very well with this one too.
As always it’s up to you what yarn and hook you would like to use. I’m using scrap bits of worsted weight acrylic yarn and a size H 5 mm crochet hook. This pattern works nicely with thicker or thinner yarn. Plus any fiber content (acrylic, cotton, wool, etc.) shows off the shells nicely.
