Creative Crochet Projects: 12 Playful Projects for Beginners and Beyond by Stephanie Pokorny – Review by Donna Wolfe from Naztazia. Check out the amazing projects in this book!
About Creative Crochet Projects
I was sent a copy of Creative Crochet Projects: 12 Playful Projects for Beginners and Beyond by Stephanie Pokorny for review. My first reaction was, the cover is so colorful. Look at all of those fun crochet projects!
I then glanced at the first several pages. They are very cool. You’ll find fun accessories to make and wear, like the “Finger Crochet Scarves” and the “It’s a Cinch One-Hour Cowl.”
There is also fun headgear like the “Squiggles McGee Hat,” “Bubble Hue Shift Hat,” and the “Asymmetric Owl Wrap.” Take a look at the gorgeous colors in the wrap below!
You will also find some fun playtime projects. These include food favorites like the “Foldable Burger,” “Foldable Hot Dog,” and “Sliceable Watermelon.” For the younger kids, the “Roll-Away Kitchen Playmat” is a great way to keep them entertained.
The “Bee-Unified Mobile” is both fun and practical, and my favorite is the “Happy Heart Bunting.” You can see how I made the hearts from this one in the main photo of this review.
First Several Pages
The first several pages of Stephanie’s book give an excellent overview of basic crochet skills like understanding yarn weight and fiber content, along with choosing a crochet hook.
As a fellow designer, I’m so happy to see two entire pages dedicated to discussing gauge and making a test swatch. She also covers step-by-step basic crochet stitches, just in case you need a refresher.
The Beautiful Patterns
When you look at the crochet patterns, you’ll find gorgeous full-page photos. There are many excellent close-up views of each project. You can almost figure out the crochet pattern just by looking at the precise stitches!
All in all, this is a beautiful book. You’ll find many great crochet patterns that are fun, artistic, useful, and unique. As always, I’ve provided a link below if you’d like to order Stephanie’s book. I’d recommend ordering a copy for yourself as well as a fellow crochet friend!
