Crochet Bead Stitch
The bead stitch is a fun textured stitch pattern made with just yarn but no actual beads. This is a great stitch for blankets, rugs, handbags, hats, scarves, or anything where you don’t want an open lace pattern – but are looking for something more than just a plain stitch.
Basic Crochet Stitches
You can chain any odd number of stitches for this design. It starts off with a row of double crochet stitches. Then, the key to the pattern is alternating single crochet stitches with a modified treble crochet stitch. The modified treble crochet stitch is what creates the little bumps, dots, or bead design. I like to change colors for the bead-like rows, but you can use the same color yarn throughout.

For this sample I’m just using some scrap yarn left over from other projects. Specifically, I’m using Red Heart Super Saver. It comes in over 120 gorgeous colors! Super Saver is a heavier worsted weight yarn that looks nice, feels nice, and holds up wonderfully in projects. Did you know Red Heart is now part of the Yarnspirations family of yarn?
