How to Crochet Heart Wave Stitch Pattern
The crochet heart wave stitch pattern creates a nice look for an afghan or blanket. Shell stitches form the wave of hearts. It is an easy pattern to remember and looks nice in one color or with multiple colors.
The key to this crochet stitch is the cluster stitch. The double crochet cluster stitch is pretty easy to make. You’ll start off with the double crochet, but don’t finish it. Continue with the next double crochet, but don’t finish it. Keep making unfinished double crochet stitches, according to the number. A 4-dc cl (four double crochet cluster) would mean make 4 unfinished double crochet stitches, then link them all together in the end.
This crochet stitch pattern becomes easy to remember once you get your cluster stitches correct for the crochet heart stitch. The other row consists of making a 6 single crochet shell stitch.
Supplies for the Sample
For this sample, I’m using leftover scraps of worsted weight yarn and a size H hook. This pattern lends itself to any type of yarn or even crochet thread.
If you’ve noticed on my website, I like to make colorful items. Ironically in my real life you’ll see me mostly wearing all black clothing. But in my work, I like all of the colors of the rainbow.
With this in mind, I like to change colors every 2 rows with this stitch pattern. It also looks really nice as one solid color as well. The edges are pretty straight do to having turning chains and double crochet stitches along the edging. However a single crochet or shell stitch border such as these would be nice around it if using it for a blanket.
