How to Crochet Plaid Dishcloth
Crochet a Plaid Dishcloth using Color Changes and Surface Crochet for the Kitchen and Bath. It’s fast, easy, and makes a great gift!
About the Crochet Plaid Dishcloth
Dishcloths are a lot of fun to make. You can use them to wash dishes in the kitchen as well as use them in the bath as a washcloth. You can also use them (with caution) underneath a warm dish or kitchen pot and pan.
Color changes in crochet can be challenging. Plaid fabrics generally have a lot of color changes that occur both horizontally and vertically. Trying to recreate plaid fabric in crochet is not for the faint of heart!
However, we have a technique in crochet called surface crochet. And in the case of plaid, surface crochet allows us to create strips of color without too much effort.
You will love how easy it is to create this dishcloth! The main part of the cloth is made of primarily single crochet stitches. There are 35 rows and the blue and green color changes are made every 7 rows, so that’s not too bad at all.
Once the main cloth is made, strategically placing yellow and white surface crochet lines creates the neat look to the dishcloth. And don’t worry about those ends. We’ll crochet right over them with a single crochet border around the entire cloth.
As always there is a step-by-step tutorial video to help you with this project. Also, if you need some assistance with placing an edging or border around crochet work, you’ll like this crochet edging and border tutorial video.
