How to Crochet Cat Stitch
The crochet cat stitch is an easy pattern that works up quickly. You can crochet a blanket and more with this cat stitch!
If you look closely, you can see the outline of cats in this crochet stitch pattern. There are well-defined pointy ears, a face, an upper body section, and cute little paws hanging down. This one is a good pattern for a crochet blanket or a crochet scarf for a cat lover.
Stitches Use
This design is a quick and easy crochet pattern as long as you know how to double crochet. A basic shell stitch comprises the majority of this pattern. You will definitely like this one if you know how to make two double crochet, a chain one, and two more double crochet stitches.
Elongated double crochet stitches turn a basic shell stitch pattern into a cat stitch pattern. These extended stitches form the paws, as well as help with defining the cat’s ears.
Colors, Yarn, and More
I happen to like using multiple colors with this crochet pattern. I’m changing colors every three rows for the majority of the design. I cut the yarn and weave in the ends after the third row of using the same yarn.
Speaking of which, I have a tutorial for weaving in ends in crochet. Plus, I have a video on how to change colors in crochet. Did I also mention I have some helpful tips and tricks on choosing which yarn colors go together?
I’m using yarn from the mill ends section of my now-closed local craft place called AC Moore. It’s a lovely worsted weight yarn that feels like a cotton and acrylic blend. Feel free to use any fiber yarn with this pattern, such as cotton, acrylic, wool, and more. And as long as you use the suggested hook found on the yarn label, you can use any weight too.
I hope you enjoy this pattern and tutorial video! Donna Wolfe from Naztazia
