Crochet Tulip Border

How cute is this? You can use this flower-like border on a blanket, afghan, scarf, shawl, handbag, and more. It forms a nice 3D effect along your work.

To do this border you will need to know some basic crochet stitches, including a chain (CH), slip stitch (SLST), single crochet (SC), half double crochet (HDC), and double crochet (DC). It also helps to know how to crochet using a previous stitch as a base. Don’t worry though, as there is a step by step tutorial video to assist with creating this!

When working on a blanket, there needs to be a stitch multiple of 3 plus 1. That means each side of the blanket should support (for example) a multiple of 3 stitches (such as 33), and then add 1 more – for a total of 34 stitches. My sample happens to have 34 double crochet stitches on it.

Also for my sample I’m using worsted weight yarn and a size H 5 mm hook. Feel free to use any weight of yarn and its corresponding hook size with this border.
