Method 1 for Weaving in Ends

With this method, you’ll insert your yarn needle under the stitches for a few inches. Turn around, skip 1 yarn loop, and insert your needle under the stitches. Trim excess yarn. This works great for projects that won’t get used much or won’t need to be washed. I use this for home decor especially.

Method 2

This method is similar to method 1, except you’ll pierce the yarn with the yarn needle. I use this for scarves and hats.

Method 3

This method is similar to method 2, except you’ll first knot the 2 strands of yarn. Then proceed with piercing and weaving the ends. It helps to then put a single crochet border around all sides. (You can put a decorative border on top of that if you wish). This way you won’t see the knots plus it helps hold in the ends even more. This is what I use for blankets, since we are kind of tough on afghans in this house.

Method 4

This method is similar to method 3. We’ll first knot the yarn strands together. Then we’ll use some type of glue-like substance on the knot to extra secure it. Nail polish, E6000 glue, Fray Chek, or hot glue work great. Once dried, use method 2 to weave in ends. I use this in handbags and jewelry.

Method 5

With this method, you’ll take the two yarn strands and crochet right over them. This works nicely for blankets, rugs, and other projects where you won’t mind a very slight bulkiness where you crochet over the strands.

Method 6

With this method, you’ll use a crochet hook to weave in ends. This is used mostly for extremely thick yarns. Blanket yarns, super bulky yarns, and novelty yarns work nicely for this technique.

Method 7 for Weaving in Ends

Finally, this method simply incorporates fringe into the yarn strands. Sometimes you’ll have so many color changes that it would be easier just to create a fringe along the edge.
